Determining who are the best feeling fanbases in the NFL every week, is determined on a few things. How well they are set up for a playoff run, how well the team has been playing lately, and if they had an especially fun game like a blowout win or a comeback win. A surprising win can make a worse team feel better than the good team sneaking by an easy opponent.
Honorable Mention
Titans: 27-17 over the Packers. The Titans avoided the trap game, the Packers just had their best game of the season and were looking to start a run to the playoffs. The Titans were having none of it, in the first half they controlled the ball so much the Packers only had 3 full possessions. Entering halftime with a 14-6 lead, they were able to withstand the comeback attempt to cruise to a 27-17 win. This win was more than just beating a desperate team, it also moved the Titans to three games ahead of the Colts for the division and only one game behind the Chiefs for the one seed. The Titans have now won 7 of their last 8 games where their only loss was in overtime to the Chiefs without Ryan Tannehill. Watch out for the Titans NFL!
Chiefs: 30-27 over the Chargers. Patrick Mahomes did it again, the Chargers scored a touchdown to take the lead by four with 1:46 left, but it was too much time. The Chiefs methodically drove 75 yards down the field in six plays to score the game winning touchdown with 31 seconds left, classic Mahomes. The Chiefs have now won 4 straight games, have the highest scoring offense in the NFL, and currently own the number one seed in the AFC. Oh yeah, and they might have the best quarterback in the NFL. The defense is a little shaky but with everything else they are still easily one of the best feeling fan bases.
#3 Patriots
10-3 win over the New York Jets. The Patriots have now won three games in a row, are currently sitting in a wild card spot and are only one game back for the division lead. These are all valid reasons for Patriots fans to feel great, but we all know why they make this list this week. A stunning, last second, improbable, impossible, miracle, walk off 84 yard punt return touchdown by Marcus Jones. It was the first punt return touchdown of the year and it came in a game where neither offense could score a touchdown and was a 3-3 tie with 26 seconds left. The fact that it came against the Patriots long time rival the Jets, is poetic for the Pats and extra gut wrenching for the Jets. This is the first time since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger that the only touchdown of the game came from special teams with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game. It is also the first game winning punt return since DeSean Jackson’s punt return to beat the Giants in 2010. This victory is more than just one play, the defense was dominant holding the Jets to two yards in the second half, and while the offense struggled they did move the ball even though they did miss two field goals in 20+ mph winds. Ultimately the Patriots win their 3rd in a row, get an iconic game winner and are only one game back for first place in their division. With such an electrifying finish to the game, Pats fans have to be one of the best feeling fan bases in the NFL.
#2 49ers
38-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The 49ers might be the hottest team in the NFL, since they fully incorporated Christian McCaffery into the offense three weeks ago. The offense is averaging 30.3 points per game, which if it was over the entire season would be first in the NFL. Over the same span, the defense is letting up only 13.3 points per game which would also be number one if extrapolated to the entire year. So in conclusion, the 49ers look scary good. But of course Niners fans feel extra jubilant after their blowout win over the Cardinals because when you get a win that decisive, everything about your team looks good. Hell, Jimmy Garapollo was putting up freaking MVP-like statistics going 20-29 for 228 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions for a shiny 138.1 passer rating. Even though the blowout wasn’t over a great team, every team in the NFL is dangerous, especially a team fighting for their playoff lives like the Cardinals were. Ultimately, San Francisco handled their business in a dominant win and now has won three games in a row to move into first place in their division. Niners fans have to be amped about how their team is playing, easily one of the best feeling fan bases.
#1 Cowboys
40-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Last week the Cowboys were beating the Packers 28-14 heading into the 4th quarter before blowing the game and losing 31-28 in overtime. This was the first time in franchise history that the Cowboys blew a 14+ lead entering the fourth, previously they were 195-0. Apparently, they took all their anger from last week out on the Vikings, absolutely destroying them 40-3. This game was all Cowboys, on the third play of the game Micah Parsons got a sack and forced a fumble, which set the tone for the rest of the game. Incredibly, the score was probably closer than it could have been considering it was 37-3 after the third quarter. This game went just about perfectly for the Cowboys, they had more than twice as many rushing yards 151 to 73 and nearly three times as many passing yards 307 to 110. It is not just how they played but also who they played that should have Cowboy fans feeling so good. The Vikings were tied with the Eagles for the best record in the NFL at 8-1 and had won 7 in a row. Not only did the Cowboys get a blowout win but over one of the best and hottest teams in the NFL. To make this week even sweeter for Cowboys fans, the Giants were upset by the Detroit Lions so the Cowboys moved to second in their division. The Cowboys offense looks great, their defense is currently the number one scoring defense in the NFL, and they now have the 3rd best record in the NFC only behind the Vikings who they just beat and the Eagles who they play again. Cowboys fans have to be thrilled about their team this week, they are the best feeling fan base right now.
