Best Feeling Fan Bases After Week 18

Determining who are the best feeling fanbases in the NFL every week, is determined on a few things. How well they are set up for a playoff run, how well the team has been playing lately, and if they had an especially fun game like a blowout win or a comeback win. A surprising win can make a worse team feel better than the good team sneaking by an easy opponent.

Honorable Mention:

Cincinnati Bengals: 27-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens. With this win, the Bengals are entering the playoffs with the second longest win streak in the NFL, combine that with a quarterback who makes extraordinary plays look routine and it’s easy to see why they are on the list. Of course Joe Borrow is the main reason why the Bengals have a serious chance at the Super Bowl but of course it is not a one man act. Ja’Mar Chase and Tee Higgins make up potentially the best wide receiver duo in the NFL, add in star running back Joe Mixon, and a defense that is fifth best in the NFL in points per game and now the Bengals are looking like one of the more complete teams in the NFL. After the Bengals win over their Rivals, they now get to play them again in the first round of the playoffs. Another thing going for their team is that it is reported that Lamar Jackson is going to miss the playoff game too. Bengals fans have to be ecstatic about their chances not only in the first round, especially after just beating them, but also in making another run at the Super Bowl. While they fell into the honorable mention spot, you can make a strong argument that they deserve to be in the top three.

#3 Buffalo Bills

35-23 win over the New England Patriots. This game started perfectly for the Bills, with Nyheim Hines returning the opening kickoff 96 yards for the score, after that it seemed like they were destined to win this game for teammate Damar Hamlin (who was hospitalized the previous game). Of course Hines wasn’t done doing his best to single handedly kick the Patriots out of the playoffs, as he returned a second kick for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter. After that second devastating left hand that Hines delivered, the Patriots dropped as the Bills outscored them 21-6 the rest of the way. In a game where the focus was on Hamlin’s life and the good news that he was now out of the hospital, Bills fans were given even more things to be happy about. Not only does their win knock their hated rivals, who beat them 32 out of 35 times with Tom Brady, out of the playoffs, but it also locks them into the number two seed and because their last game was canceled, they will play the Chiefs at a neutral site if the teams meet in the playoffs. The Bills are currently one of the hottest teams in the NFL having won seven straight games, with Josh Allen manning the helm you never know when he might go nuclear, as he did last year in the playoffs when he threw for 9 touchdowns and no interceptions in two games with a combined passer rating 149.0. When you have a quarterback who is capable of that, and the second best defense in points per game, you know that the Bills mafia are liking their odds that Josh Allen can lead the Billy Boys to their first championship.

#2 Kansas City Chiefs

31-13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Patrick Mahomes likes to play against the Raiders, a lot, I mean he must really like playing them. In his young career so far, Mahomes is 9-1 with a point differential of +169 against the Raiders, over those ten games he has a 27-3 touchdown to interception ratio. If that was over a full 17 game season he would have 46 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions, which is to put it lightly, really really really good. Even this down game, where he only threw for one touchdown still saw the Chiefs easily cruise to a victory as they ran in three touchdowns and had a 24-3 halftime lead. With this win, the Chiefs clinched the number one seed and all but sealed Patrick Mahomes’ second MVP award. The Chiefs have now won five straight games and now get to enjoy their bye week as they root for upsets in the first round of the playoffs. The Chiefs have who most people consider is the best quarterback in the NFL, on a team primed to make another run at the Super Bowl and they just blew out their rival while locking in a bye. They also have the highest scoring offense in the NFL, and they have Patrick Mahomes who I know I just mentioned but for the season he is having deserves to be mentioned a second time. Chiefs Kingdom is feeling great as they are clearing their weekend schedules for the next month.

#1 San Francisco 49ers

38-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The 49ers might just be the single hottest team in the NFL. They have won 10 straight games to finish the season and the offense is on fire averaging 30.5 points per game over the stretch. Incredibly, since being forced to move to their third string rookie seventh round draft pick they have been even better. In the five games that Brock Purdy has started the 49ers have gone 5-0 and are averaging an insane 33.6 points per game. Purdy himself has played incredible, throwing for 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions over that span with a passer rating of 119.0, which if it was over the entire season would easily lead the NFL and would be the fifth highest passer rating ever. I feel like I don’t need to say how insane he is playing as a rookie but I’m going to anyway. Purdy’s level of play would be phenomenal if he was the first overall draft pick that everyone thought would be the future of the NFL, and he was the exact opposite of that. He was the last overall draft pick, that no one thought would do anything, and they literally awarded him the title of “Mr. Irrelevant”. The fact that the Niners, a team that has been desperately trying to get a franchise quarterback for years (they traded three first round picks for Trey Lance) might have accidentally backed into a potential star quarterback with the last pick of the draft has to have 49ers fans overtly salivating about the future of their team. Of course what pushes 49ers fans to be nearly delirious with joy is their team, which is loaded with stars on both sides, is destroying nearly all of the teams they’ve been playing against recently. Over their last five games with Purdy, the team is winning by an average of 16.2 points, which means even having an average game they would win by three scores. This week the 49ers just bombarded the Arizona Cardinals 38-13 to lock in the number two seed in the NFC and now they get to face off against a Seahawks team, in the playoffs, that they’ve already beat twice this season. To recap the many reasons why 49ers fans get to wake up today with the biggest ear to ear, gaping smiles today is (deep breath): the Niners are the hottest team in the NFL winning 10 straight games, their rookie seventh round pick looks like a star, they have the probable defensive player of the year in Nick Bosa, they get to enjoy a blowout over the Cardinals, Christian McCaffery is the only running back to have over 100 total yards against them this year and he is now on their team, McCaffery is playing like a top five running back and is avoiding injuries, they have the best defense in the NFL by a wide margin letting up only 16.3 ppg a full 1.6 ahead of the nearest competition (Bills), and their offense is the sixth best and the single best offense over the last five weeks. So yeah, the Niner faithful are the best feeling fan base at the end of the regular season.
